Kristen Marsh Waldrup is the admissions counselor for the School of Filmmaking. Interview Day is her favorite day—when she can actually put a face to the name she's been looking at on paper for so long. Though not a filmmaker, she enjoys movies and appreciates the determination that students who apply to UNCSA show through their work.
What do you love about your job?
As the liaison for the School of Filmmaking, I get to see a lot of amusing and very creative portfolios. I love giving tours and traveling for recruitment but the most absolute favorite part of my job is walking to the Post Office and dropping the acceptance letters in the mailbox every spring.
What are some of your favorites at UNCSA and in the area?
- Favorite spot on campus: The Pickle Jar
- Favorite UNCSA tradition: The Nutcracker Ballet. I've been every year since 2009.
- Favorite place in Winston-Salem: Camino's Bakery. You have to try the Almond Horn, it is amazing! The hot chocolate is really good too!
What would your perfect day look like?
My perfect day is laying on the beach all day with a good book and eating a fresh seafood dinner on the pier at sunset.
Where can we meet you on the road?
You’ll bump into me in Florida, Texas, Georgia, and New Jersey.
