Andrew G. Britt is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Liberal Arts, teaching history and humanities courses. He is a historian of Latin America and a digital scholarship developer with a focus on contemporary Brazil. His courses combine foundational practices of historical inquiry with experimental methods of digital research and public engagement.
Britt’s principal teaching and research interests include: race/ethnicity in comparative perspective; spatial history; popular culture and its producers in Latin America; post-emancipation racial inequalities, especially in Brazil; Afro-Latin America; and collaborative digital mapping. He joined the Division of Liberal Arts following a postdoctoral fellowship in digital humanities at Northwestern University’s Alice Kaplan Institute for the Humanities.
