Christopher Dorr teaches creative producing in the School of Filmmaking's graduate program. He brings four decades of experience during which he has worked as an executive for Hollywood studios and production companies, produced independent feature films and created content for new and emerging media.
As we hurtle into the 21st century, I aspire to teach my students what moving image storytelling looked like in the past and how it is being reshaped in the present, so they will create its future.
- Designed and taught a new media course at NYU’s Tisch Film School entitled "Expanding Cinema: New Media, Movies and Beyond" and taught "The Business of Film" at NYU’s Stern School of Business
- Led seminars on new media and independent filmmaking at the Canadian Film Centre, Tribeca Film Festival and San Francisco International Film Festival
- Speaking engagements include Digital Hollywood in Los Angeles and New York and Pacific Crest Media Investment Conference in Vail, Colorado
- Co-President, Scott Free (company owned by Ridley Scott), where he produced "Where The Money Is," starring Paul Newman and Linda Fiorentino; "Clay Pigeons," starring Vince Vaughn and Joaquin Phoenix and supervised production of the Showtime series, "The Hunger"
- Produced "The Deal," starring Christian Slater and Selma Blair
- Supervised the development and production of "Dead Poet’s Society" at Walt Disney Studios and "Problem Child" and "Problem Child 2" at Universal Pictures
- Global Head of Content Partnerships, Movies & TV, Nokia
- Founded Dorr Media in 2009 and has since consulted with many companies on digital media strategy, including Viacom, Sony, Samsung, the Global Online Video Association, Tribeca Film Festival and The Sundance Institute
