Vocalist and arts administrator Erika Frazier grew up in a musical family in Charlotte,
NC, and has called Winston-Salem home since 2017. Music has been at the center of
her life from the very beginning, shaping both her performance career and her work
in arts leadership. Since February 2022, she served as Media and Communications Director
for the Eastern Music Festival (EMF) in Greensboro, NC, where she led season advertising,
student recruitment campaigns, and storytelling that highlighted the voices of EMF
students, alumni, and patrons. In 2025, she left EMF to take on a new role as Artistic Director of the UNCSA Community Music School.
Frazier earned her degree in Music Industry Studies with concentrations in Marketing
& Management and Vocal Performance from Appalachian State University in 2017. She
began her career at the Blue Ridge Music Center as Program Assistant, later advancing
to Community Engagement Coordinator and Junior Appalachian Musicians (JAM) Program
Director at the Yadkin Arts Council. While administering JAM, she taught music theory
and practical skills, and occasionally stepped in on guitar, mandolin, and upright
bass. These experiences reinforced her belief in music as a lifelong learning process
and deepened her love of music education.
As a performer, Frazier enjoys singing classical repertoire and serves as soprano
section leader at First Presbyterian Church in Winston-Salem. She has also performed
with a variety of bands, including an appearance at MerleFest in 2021, and has been
featured in ensembles ranging from jazz and folk to bluegrass and even Oktoberfest.
A true lover of all genres, she continues to explore music across styles and traditions.
As an administrator, Frazier is passionate about connecting people through music and
looks forward to guiding the next phase of growth and community impact at the UNCSA
Community Music School. Outside of her professional life, she enjoys mountain biking,
traveling, and spending time outdoors with her spirited rescue dog, Wilma.
