Kate Douglass teaches Social Studies in the UNCSA High School Academic Program. "I strive to teach in the way that I like to learn, where students are actively engaged with the content material," Douglass says. "I use a variety of teaching methods – ranging from primary source analysis to debates, simulations, lectures and skits.
"In my class, students should expect to develop their own opinions and conclusions about history, government and economics in a student-centered, rigorous learning environment. I want my students to learn how to be critical and independent thinkers. I want them to seek knowledge, and understand that information is crucial to good citizenship."
