Soprano Kathryn (Katie) Muhlenkamp teaches classical voice and musical theatre. Katie loves working with students of all ages, helping them to build confidence in both their musical and personal lives.

Katie is a frequent performer in theatres across North Carolina and Virginia, most recently as Evelyn Nesbit in Piedmont Opera's "Ragtime." Past roles include Mary Poppins in “Mary Poppins,” Julie Jordan in "Carousel," Sibella in “A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder,” Luisa in "The Fantasticks!," Laurie Williams in "Oklahoma!," Penny Pingleton in "Hairspray," Hope Cladwell in "Urinetown" and Helen Fogle in the North Carolina premier of Sondheim's "Saturday Night." Katie also performs in plays, notably as Brook Ashton in "Noises Off," Clarice in David Ives’ “The Liar,” Lizzy in "The Rainmaker" and Shelby in "Steel Magnolias."

Katie studied vocal performance at Elon University under a choral music scholarship. Currently, Katie is the soprano section leader at Emerywood Baptist Church and music director for Seasons Best Caroling.

While not teaching and performing, Katie is an attorney in the financial services industry. Her hobbies include traveling, Pilates, keeping her herb garden alive and spending time with her husband and two dogs.
