Ruby Moore is a singer-songwriter based in Winston-Salem, NC with roots in San Antonio, TX. A former competitive yodeler turned classically trained musician, Ruby’s vocal style and writing can only be described as eclectic. Her playful, honest voice feels right at home in folk, Americana, bluegrass, and country-folk music, drawing inspiration from artists such as Joni Mitchell, Emmylou Harris, and Iris Dement.
Over the past five years, Ruby has shared her love of the arts through teaching. Most recently, she has offered private voice and guitar lessons at the esteemed Center for Early Education in Los Angeles, CA. She loves helping her students share their unique stories through one of the truest and oldest forms of self-expression – songwriting.
In addition to writing and performing, Ruby is a visual artist. Her playfulness and love of all things extraordinary can be found in her paintings and ceramic art. She is also a language enthusiast with knowledge of German, Italian, and French.
Ruby earned her B.M. in Voice Performance from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts in 2023, studying under Marion Pratnicki and Phyllis Pancella; she received a minor in German Studies under the guidance of Dr. Hans Gabriel. Now returning as part of the Community Music School faculty, she is excited to bring her eclectic artistry full circle – teaching, creating, and sharing the joy of music with her community.
