Aphrodite Armstrong is an actress, writer, and comedian based in Los Angeles, CA. Most recently, Aphrodite was featured in the sex worker mob thriller "Ponyboi" (dir. Esteban Arango) alongside River Gallo, Dylan O’Brien, Victoria Pedretti, and Indya Moore. Ponyboi premiered at the 2024 Sundance Film Festival in the US Dramatic Competition category. Aphrodite is also the recipient of the 2022 South by Southwest Special Jury Prize for Outstanding Performances for her work in the short film "West by God" (dir. Scott Lazer), which had its world premiere at the Berlinale Film Festival and an American premiere at South By Southwest.
Aphrodite’s work in the indie film world has inspired her to create film and media that pushes boundaries, and she aims to create films that explore and uplift the LGBTQ community through humor. Aphrodite has a taste for dark comedy, satire and anything absurd. She has a background in improv and sketch comedy through the Upright Citizens Brigade LA, where she was a recipient of UCB’s Diversity Scholarship, and developed a deep love for comedy. Aphrodite’s first full-length play, Superfake, is premiering in UNCSA’s Keys to the Kingdom play series this May. Her dream is to pioneer the landscape for authentic LGBTQ stories - because she believes that any community you can laugh with is a community you can learn to love. Aphrodite’s passions include long walks on the beach, sea animals, plastic surgery and lip gloss — (it’s the little things!)
