Clay Laplante

Clay Laplante is a fourth-year filmmaking and creative writing student who hails from New Hampshire.

Clay knew he wanted to pursue an education in filmmaking upon his early, ardent discovery of “The Wimpy Kid Movie Diary,” a book that defines the filmmaking process which brought the first Diary of a Wimpy Kid movie to life. Though his filmmaking journey was initially driven by the hope of working in special effects, upon studying at UNCSA, he became quickly enamored with the craft of writing. Now, he’s in enthusiastic pursuit of his writerly dreams, and hopes to one day write and produce an original television series. Clay plans to graduate in May of 2024 with a B.F.A. in Filmmaking and a minor in Creative Writing.

Clay has worked for many years with a non-profit called the Community Alliance for Teen Safety, and has led multiple projects centered around youth safety. He believes in the power of creative expression through media, and endeavors to inspire people to create, and to create again. Clay's excited about the opportunity to work within ArtistCorps, and to help realize the boundless potential within the youth of the community.
