Maya Mays

Maya is a West Palm Beach, Florida native but is so happy to have called the creative haven that is UNCSA her home for the past four years! A graduate of Dreyfoos School of the Arts, Maya has immersed herself in the arts ever since she played the Baby Kangaroo in "Seussical Jr." where she found inspiration from the artists around her.

Maya’s UNCSA Drama credits include Aileen, Barbara, Uma, and Flo Kennedy in "Roe" directed by alumni Acadia Barrengos; The Chorus in "If Pretty Hurts…" directed by Claire Fort; and currently the leading role of Rosalind in "As You Like it: the Musical" directed by Andy Paris. Maya is also no stranger to the camera! She has enjoyed collaborating with the UNCSA School of Filmmaking to collaborate on many films such as "Mercy" directed by Sierra Jallad, "Homer Great Teller of Tales" directed by alumni Amelia Cameron and more!

Her love for theater arts goes beyond performing as Maya also enjoys the art of producing, she loves collaborating and organizing pieces of a project and watching them all come together. In the spring she will be producing three plays, two of which are new works written by her talented peers. Maya also enjoys directing and is very excited to make her directorial debut with “This is Our Youth” in the spring. Maya is a bubbly, charismatic joyful artist that loves inspiring others through the power of storytelling and is thankful to have been in such a giving space to learn and grow her craft.

She is currently the recipient of the Sarah Graham Kenan Scholarship, the highest award for a college student at UNCSA and is very grateful.
