Norman, this concert features a vibrant mix of works by some of today’s most dynamic composers, each offering a unique lens on modern music-making. The program opens with Niko Schroeder's “Contrapunctus // Song,” written for Alarm Will Sound. This exhilarating work brings a fresh perspective on counterpoint and narrative, seamlessly weaving intricate structures with moments of raw emotion to set the tone for an unforgettable evening.
 

“And the Swallow” by Caroline Shaw follows, offering a poignant meditation on themes of migration and connection, resonating with her signature warmth and humanity. Next, “A Wonderful Day” by Anna Clyne blends lyricism and unexpected textures to create a deeply evocative journey. Quinn Mason’s “Nhemamusasa” delivers a vibrant and celebratory reimagining of traditional Zimbabwean mbira music, brought to life with a rich palette of instrumental colors.

The evening concludes with Viet Cuong’s “Bull's Eye,” a rhythmic and energetic exploration of sound that demands precision and collaboration, bringing the program to a powerful and exhilarating close.
