Performance Overview
Faculty artists Ida Bieler, violin; Oskar Espina Ruiz, clarinet; and Dmitri Vorobiev, piano explore the romantic spirit captured in Johannes Brahms’ acclaimed “Violin Sonata in A major, Op. 100” and “Clarinet Sonata in F minor, Op. 120.”
These works are framed by two trios: Béla Bartók’s “Contrasts,” which was commissioned by clarinetist Benny Goodman and premiered at Carnegie Hall in 1940, and Octavio Vázquez’s “Zeitgeist,” a newer work written in 2012, “points at that which remains beyond all experiences and stories and, in doing so, transcends time.”
