A native of Seoul, South Korea, Mikyung Sung is a double bassist who has earned international acclaim as a soloist, teacher, and chamber and orchestra musician. Known for her fearlessly virtuosic and engaging performances, Sung captivates audiences with bel canto lyricism and deep emotional expression. In the words of the founder of Discover Double Bass and music educator Geoff Chalmers, her performance “will take your breath away, but more importantly she is one of the most expressive musicians I’ve ever heard.”

Sung’s program will feature works by Johannes Matthias Sperger, Henry Eccles, Max Bruch, Adolf Míśek and Jan Křtitel Vaňhal. She will be joined by UNCSA pianist and alumna Annah Oh (M.M. ’13) for this unforgettable recital.
