With cold months just around the corner, we seek warmth, calm and intimacy. This program promises all three—starting with beautiful works for solo violin performed by UNCSA faculty member Janet Orenstein, including John Harbison, Bright Sheng, and Andrea Casarrubio, plus “Spiegel im Spiegel for piano and cello” by Arvo Pärt, the composer who practically defines tranquility.

Faculty artists Brooks Whitehouse (cello) and Allison Gagnon (piano) join for two works for piano trio, including “Three Funny Pieces,” a delicious lollipop by Rodion Schedrin, and Brahms’s warmly lyrical Piano Trio No. 1.
