Jamilah Muhammad

Jamilah Muhammad is an actor, dancer, poet and filmmaker from Winston-Salem, North Carolina. From performing comedy skits in her family’s living room talent shows to her debut role as Snow White, Jamilah has always pushed creative boundaries. She's devoted to creating art that authentically reveals black experiences through the exploration of history, culture and connection.

Practically growing up in the school's backyard, Jamilah was thrilled to nurture her craft and expand her theatrical toolbox at UNCSA. A few of her UNCSA credits include Ramsay in Lucy Prebble’s "Enron" directed by Vivian Farahani and Marie in Robert O’hara’s "Barbecue" directed by Cliff Odle.

This fall she will be portraying Beverly in Jackie Sibblies Drury’s "Fairview" directed by Jackie Alexander. Her final UNCSA role will be in "Julius Caesar" directed by Sara Becker, in the spring. Jamilah’s passion for art goes beyond the stage. She is producing and starring in "Pretty Chick Off Society," a web series she co-created. This spring, she will also be directing "Topdog/Underdog" by Suzan-Lori Parks and devising "Project XX," a one woman play.

Jamilah is extremely thankful to her family, friends and faculty who never fall short in their support and encouragement. She is honored to be a member of Class of 2025 and is excited to bring back her artistic ventures to the community of Winston-Salem!
